Kybella
What is Kybella®?
The Kybella® injection is the only FDA-approved treatment option for submental fullness in the face. The injection contains an ingredient called deoxycholic acid, which is a molecule that also naturally occurs in the body. Deoxycholic acid specifically works to break down and absorb fat, and when injected into specific regions, the concentration of the molecule increases and strategically eliminates fat cells.
As submental fat begins to weaken, cosmetic practitioners are able to contour the neck so that it looks aesthetically pleasing and well-balanced with the rest of the face. The Kybella injection can also be performed with other dermal fillers in order to create optimal facial balance.
Why Receive Kybella® Treatment?
In the past, the most effective method for treating the double chin was liposuction, neck lifts or face lifts, which are invasive procedures that involve anesthesia, deep incisions and long recovery times. Kybella® is much less invasive, involving only a few injections to produce full effects and very little downtime afterwards. It is an alternative treatment for individuals who do not wish to undergo an invasive procedure or who do not have enough excess fat under the chin to warrant surgery.
Benefits of Kybella® treatment include:
Results appear almost immediately
Injections are minimally invasive with very little discomfort
Reduces fat in the double chin
Improves natural face shape
More affordable compared to surgical treatment
Provides subtle changes to the chin
Treatments fit into your lifestyle
Boosts self-esteem and overall appearance
Candidates for Kybella® Treatment
Kybella® is a minimally invasive treatment that uses compounds already present in the body to create results, making it a treatment option with very little side effects. However, there are certain factors that may not make you a suitable candidate for Kybella® treatment. If you have any infections near the submental space or are taking blood thinner medications, Kybella® may not be an appropriate treatment. Additionally, if you are pregnant or plan on receiving additional surgery to the submental area, Kybella® injections would not be recommended.
In order to determine whether or not you should receive treatment with Kybella®, it is important that you are open about your medical history. Having a thorough understanding of any health conditions will help us find the best treatment option for you, even if it is not with Kybella®. With the open atmosphere that we create in the BAM Aesthetics office, we hope that you will feel comfortable expressing your cosmetic goals and disclosing any medical conditions.
Kybella® Treatment at BAM Aesthetics
The amount of Kybella® injections needed to re-contour the chin depends on your individual facial aesthetic. To determine the best treatment regimen for you, we welcome you to schedule a complimentary consultation with us so that we can evaluate the submental fullness and decide how many injections will be necessary to create the desired effects. At most, clients will receive six injections, which are placed in specific regions of the skin in order to produce the most natural and attractive result.
Kybella® injections take place no sooner than a month apart, and each session lasts up to 20 minutes, fitting perfectly into your daily routine. Clients will typically start seeing results after four weeks, but we recommend continuing the injections until the regimen is complete.
